Hi, my name is Aaron.
To me innovation and passion are the perfect match. "TEIKEI", the idea to produce and transport coffe in a fair, organic and sustainable way, was created out of inner conviction.
Teikei - fair, organic, idealistic
About four years ago we founded Teikei, a project community and non-profit organisation for community-supported agriculture. The coffee we prepare in our café in the "Karolinenviertel" is coffee from community-supported agriculture (or Teikei in a wider sense in Japanese). This means that our community receives coffee beans from Mexico but also shares any risks associated with farming. This offers security to the coffee farmers and is very fair.
From sailing ship to cargo bike
Our coffee beans are transported environmentally friendly by sailing ship from Mexico to Hamburg. We sail from Veracruz to the museum harbour on Hamburg’s Veddel.
After arrival in Hamburg, we unload the coffee by hand onto a fleet of cargo bikes and transport it to our warehouses or directly to the roastery.
The cargo bike - more than a car replacement
Having grown up rurally, I wanted to be independent and mobile early on. So, in the end I’ve been and enjoyed driving cars for a long time. However, in a big city like Hamburg a car does not get you far.
With the start of our project we came on the topic of cargo bikes. The perfect mobility solution, not only for transporting coffee beans from the harbour to the roaster, but also for our day to day use across our whole team.
Heavy Load. Easy Riding.
No matter who, no matter what: I can run every errand with the E-Cargoville LJ 70, from 70 kg sacks of coffee to groceries - I can safely and quickly transport it all.
Also, we save tons of time because searching for a parking spot and traffic jams do not exist for us. This is not only totally practical it’s also a lot of fun.
