Lines and forms vs. strict norms

Hi, I am Jule.
Painting and cycling are two extremes in my life that balance myself like two opposite poles. Every day I move back and forth between both of these capturing worlds. I try to connect them by bringing my art on my bikes.

"In the beginning cycling simply meant freedom and independence."

Time on my bike to me means liberty, taking a deep breath and relaxing. I can start riding at any time and don't have to adhere to any schedule. On my rides I always discover unseen, inspiring places or get to know new and exciting people. In turn this gives me new ideas for my work as an artist. Also, rides through the woods, away from street traffic, are an oasis of calm and a source of power for me because I can be completely by myself there.

"It was a natural process to bring my art onto my bikes."

During the fall and winter I had to recover from a knee injury. It was then that I got my hands-on couple white saddles lying around at home. I thought to myself that these would profit from a little beautification by using them as a canvas. My network really appreciated this and so I started to use bike parts or entire bikes for my art.

"Being creative is part of my life."

I realised fairly quickly that I can connect the art with the cycling world. For me, these two worlds that are depending on one another to keep the balance between body and mind. In the morning I cycle to my studio and I let colours, structures and surfaces influence me.
